How to use PDF to Word

PDFVelora rebuilds your PDF as a flowing Word document instead of a page of floating text boxes, so you can edit it like any other file. Headings become Word heading styles, lists stay lists, tables stay tables and pictures keep their size. Pages without a text layer, such as scans and photos, are read with OCR first: choose the document's language for the best result.

  1. Upload your PDF

Drop the PDF on the page or choose it from your device.

  2. Pick the document language

If the PDF is a scan, select its language so the OCR reads it correctly.

  3. Convert

Start the conversion. Text-based PDFs take a few seconds; scanned pages take a few seconds each.

  4. Download the DOCX

Download the Word file and open it in Microsoft Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.

Questions about PDF to Word

Will my formatting be kept?

Headings, paragraphs, fonts, sizes, colours, alignment, lists, tables, pictures and the running header and footer are carried over, with one Word page per PDF page. Complex magazine-style layouts may need small touch-ups.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?

Yes. Pages without selectable text are read with OCR. English, French, Arabic and Spanish are supported; pick the language before converting.

Is converting PDF to Word free?

Yes. Without an account you can run 3 tasks a day, and a free account gives you 5. Pro and Business plans have no daily limit.

What happens to my file after conversion?

Files are encrypted in transit and deleted automatically: after 2 hours for visitors and after 24 hours for account holders, unless you save them to My documents.

Which apps can open the result?

The result is a standard .docx file that opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Apple Pages and LibreOffice Writer.
