How to use Split PDF

Choose how to split: type page ranges such as 1-3, 4-6, 9, cut the document every few pages, or click the pages to put in one new PDF. Before you start, the thumbnails show which file each page will go to. Several results are downloaded together as a ZIP. Smaller files are split in your browser without being uploaded; large or restricted PDFs are processed on our servers and deleted automatically.

  1. Upload your PDF

    Drop the PDF on the page or choose it from your device.

  2. Choose a split mode

    Pick By page ranges, Every N pages or Selected pages.

  3. Set the pages

    Type the ranges, enter how many pages each file should have, or click the pages you want. Badges show where each page goes.

  4. Split and download

    Click Process, then download the PDF, or the ZIP when there are several files.

Questions about Split PDF

How do I write page ranges?

Separate the ranges with commas, for example 1-3, 4-6, 9. Each range becomes its own PDF. Write 8- to go from page 8 to the end, or -3 for the first three pages.

Can I split a PDF into single pages?

Yes. Choose Every N pages and set it to 1: each page becomes a separate PDF, and all of them are downloaded together in a ZIP.

Do the split files lose quality?

No. Pages are copied without re-compressing images or changing fonts, so each new PDF looks exactly like the matching pages of the original.

Is splitting a PDF free?

Yes. Without an account you can run 3 tasks a day, and a free account gives you 5. Pro and Business plans have no daily limit.

Are my files uploaded?

Smaller files are processed in your browser and never leave your device. Large files, and PDFs your browser can't edit, are encrypted in transit, processed on our servers and deleted automatically: after 2 hours for visitors and 24 hours for account holders, unless you save them to My documents.
