How to use Translate PDF

PDFVelora translates the text of your PDF with Claude and writes each translation back into the box the original occupied, so headings, columns, table cells, pictures and backgrounds stay in place. Every batch is translated with the opening of the document as context, which helps keep terms consistent. When the layout can't be kept, for a scanned PDF or a translation too long for its boxes, you get a clean Word document instead. Arabic, Hebrew, Persian and Urdu are set right to left.

  1. Upload your PDF

Drop the PDF on the page or choose it from your device.

  2. Choose the target language

Pick the language to translate into. The source language doesn't need to be set.

  3. Start the translation

Click Process. Pages are translated in batches; a long document takes a few minutes.

  4. Download the result

Download the translated PDF, or the Word document when the layout couldn't be kept.

Questions about Translate PDF

Which languages can I translate into?

45 languages, including English, French, Arabic, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), Russian, Turkish, Hindi, Japanese, Korean and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional). You don't need to say which language the PDF is in.

Is the layout really kept?

The original text is removed and each translation is laid out in its place, so pictures, drawings and backgrounds are untouched. A translation longer than the original is set slightly smaller to fit its box; numbers and symbols are left as they are. If too much text would need a much smaller size, you get a Word document instead.

Can I translate a scanned PDF?

Yes. Its pages are read with OCR (English, French, Arabic or Spanish) and the translation comes back as an editable Word document, with headings, paragraphs, lists and tables.

Is there a page limit?

Yes: up to 200 pages per document. Split a longer PDF and translate the parts one after the other.

Can I rely on the translation?

It is written by AI and reads naturally in most cases, but it can miss nuances or specialised terms. For contracts, medical or official documents, have the result checked by a qualified translator.

Do I need an account, and what does it cost?

AI tools need a free account. A translation counts as one daily task and uses AI credits: 20 a month on the free plan, 500 on Pro and 1,000 per Business user. The cost is estimated before the translation starts, so it doesn't begin if your credits won't cover it.
