How to use Scan to text

Turn a photo of a page, a screenshot or a scanned PDF into text you can edit. On a phone, photograph the page straight from the tool, drag the four corners onto the edges of the sheet and enhance the contrast before it is read. PDFVelora turns and straightens each page, recognises English, French, Arabic or Spanish, and shows every page beside its text so you can fix a word before copying it or downloading it as TXT or DOCX.

Questions about Scan to text

Which files can I use?

JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, GIF and TIFF images (a multi-page TIFF gives one page per frame), or a scanned PDF of up to 200 pages.

How do I get the best result from a phone photo?

Photograph the page flat and in good light, then drag the four corners onto the edges of the sheet. Enhance contrast whitens the paper and darkens the text, which helps recognition. All of this happens in your browser; only the finished scan is uploaded.

Which languages and kinds of text are recognised?

Printed text in English, French, Arabic and Spanish, with the language detected automatically. Handwriting is generally not read reliably.

Can I get the text as a Word document?

Yes. Download DOCX after checking the text: it includes your corrections. You also get a searchable PDF of the pages.

Is it free?

Yes. Without an account you can run 3 tasks a day, and a free account gives you 5. Pro and Business plans have no daily limit.

What happens to my images?

Files are encrypted in transit and deleted automatically: after 2 hours for visitors and after 24 hours for account holders, unless you save them to My documents.
