How to use PDF to Text

PDFVelora pulls the text out of your PDF and saves it as a plain TXT file, in one of two layouts. Reading order gives clean paragraphs separated by blank lines, without page numbers or repeated headers, ideal for copying or pasting into an AI tool. Keep page layout uses spaces to place each line where it sits on the page, so columns and tables stay side by side. Scanned pages are read with OCR.

Questions about PDF to Text

What's the difference between the two layouts?

Reading order joins lines into paragraphs, follows the reading sequence and drops page numbers and running headers. Keep page layout reproduces each page as it looks, with spaces holding columns in place, which suits forms, statements and multi-column documents.

How are tables handled?

In Reading order, each table row becomes one line with its cells separated by tabs, so it pastes cleanly into a spreadsheet. In Keep page layout, tables keep their columns aligned with spaces.

Can I extract text from a scanned PDF?

Yes. Pages without selectable text are read with OCR in English, French, Arabic or Spanish. If the PDF contains no readable text at all, you're told so rather than receiving an empty file.

Which encoding does the TXT file use?

UTF-8, the standard encoding for text files. It opens in Notepad, TextEdit and any code editor, with accents and Arabic script displayed correctly.

Is extracting text from a PDF free?

Yes. Without an account you can run 3 tasks a day, and a free account gives you 5. Pro and Business plans have no daily limit.

What happens to my file after conversion?

Files are encrypted in transit and deleted automatically: after 2 hours for visitors and after 24 hours for account holders, unless you save them to My documents.
